Cyclic corrosion testing exposes samples to a sequence of varying environmental conditions, such as salt spray, dryness, and humidity, which effectively reproduces corrosion that occurs in outdoor salt-contaminated environments. Numerous standard organizations and enterprises have developed their own cyclic corrosion testing standards, including but not limited to IEC 60068-2-52, ISO11997-1, GB/T 2423.18, JASO M610, VW PV1210, GMW 14872, Nissan M0158 CCT-1, and BOSCH N42 AP226. Although these standards differ in content and encompass a wide array of test conditions, they typically consist of similar testing phases, combining and cycling through stages such as salt spray, humid heat, dryness, storage, and spray, thus enabling the samples to undergo multiple temperature, humidity, and corrosion transformations throughout the testing cycle.

In the case of IEC 60068-2-52 (edition 11/2017), it outlines eight test methods with specific test conditions for each. Among the environmental condition combinations, there are three distinct sets: 35°C salt spray plus 40°C/93%RH humidity (used in Test Methods 1 and 2), 35°C salt spray plus 40°C/93%RH humidity plus 23°C/50%RH standard atmosphere storage (employed in Test Methods 3 through 6), and 35°C salt spray plus 60°C/≤30%RH dryness plus 50°C/95%RH humidity (utilized in Test Methods 7 and 8).

In the IEC 60068-2-52 (11/2017),  beyond the difference in environmental condition combinations, the transition time requirements also vary across these methods. Test Methods 1 through 6 require that the transition time between each environmental condition does not exceed 2 hours, whereas Test Methods 7 and 8 demand a much shorter transition time of approximately 30 minutes.

Apart from the stringent transition time requirements in IEC 60068-2-52’s Test Methods 7 and 8, other standards like ISO11997-1 Cycle A, Nissan M0158 CCT-1, and BOSCH N42 AP226 also have rigorous transition time constraints. For instance, according to BOSCH N42 AP226's test conditions, the first transition necessitates reaching 50°C from salt spray within 20 minutes, escalating from 50°C to 60°C within 40 minutes, and reducing relative humidity to below 50%RH within 5 minutes. The second transition requires a temperature drop to 50°C within 5 minutes and attaining a relative humidity of 95%RH within 20 minutes, followed by a third transition where the temperature must decrease to 35°C within 15 minutes.

The QS-CCT series of cyclic corrosion test chambers can execute six environmental modes: salt spray, humidity, dryness, moist heat, rest, and spray. These modes can be programmed in any order and cycled automatically. To cater to diverse customer requirements, we categorize the QS-CCT cyclic corrosion test chambers into Standard and Professional editions. The main distinctions between these two editions are:

1. The temperature range and controllable temperature-humidity range differ.

Temperature: The Standard edition operates within a temperature range of 20°C to 60°C, whereas the Professional edition extends this range to 20°C to 70°C.

Humidity :please refer to the accompanying charts for the specific ranges:

The above figure shows the controllable humidity range - standard version

The above figure shows the controllable humidity range-Professional version

2. The Standard edition is suitable for testing standards that do not have stringent transition time requirements, such as IEC 60068-2-52 method 1-6, GB/T 2423.18, VW PV1210, VDA 621-415, and ISO 11997-1 Cycle B. Conversely, the Professional edition boasts quick transition performance between environmental modes, making it capable of meeting testing standards that demand strict transition times, including BOSCH N42 AP226, IEC 60068-2-52 method 7-8, ISO11997-1 Cycle A, and Nissan M0158 CCT-1/CCT-4.

For our customers, the choice of the QS-CCT cyclic corrosion test chamber version depends on their specific testing needs. Users of the Standard edition can later opt for a software upgrade service to upgrade their equipment to the Professional edition if required.
